Coaches

Through wrestling, we instill habits that develop character and we teach the discipline needed to shed many of the negative temptations that are prevalent in modern teenage life.  Our Code-of-Conduct is taken from a combination of the USA wrestling standards and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) behavior requirements.  Athletes who fail to follow the code of conduct and are unwilling to work on improvement become ineligible to participate in the club.

Ken Coburn - Coach

If your goal is to be a state champion or state placer you need to compete at the state level.  Wrestling in the off season allows the best kids in the state a chance to compete against the best in the nation.  More matches will improve your technique, skill, and mat strategy. More minutes on the mat = more wins.  The time is now to becoming a top level wrestler. Whether you just want to improve your wrestling technique and skill, post season wrestling is mandatory to become successful. If you have high wrestling goals Guardian Knights wrestling must be a part of your wrestling plan.  Sincerely, Coach Coburn (Click on “More Information” to see Ken Coburn’s bio)

Gregg Fulton - Assistant Coach

While I have been involved in wrestling in a supportive capacity for about six years because of my two sons, I just started getting involved with coaching.  I completed the Bronze Certification provided by USA Wrestling and I assist our other veteran coaches with all age groups and levels of experience.  I feel that wrestling is one of the most challenging sports, both physically and mentally and I admire any boy or girl that is willing to put themselves out on the mat all alone.  As a coach, I am called to fulfill many different roles such as being a leader, administrator, counselor, and mentor.  I am often called upon to take young wrestlers to local tournaments.

Nick Gaither - Coach

Nick Gaither was a founding member of the GK WC, as an athlete.  Nick’s mother, Jackie Reese, is also actively involved with GK and currently acts as Secretary for the club.  Nick is a Senior at Amador Valley HS.  Nick is giving back to the sport and acting as our Level-1 beginners coach.  Nick is a valuable asset to the club and we welcome his involvement.
